a little more around the store...

Always getting new things and rearranging what we have, so we can't help but keep sharing...

Show & Tell Friday

Hello everyone,

We are having some lovely weather here again lately so we were able to enjoy a walk on the beach today-it was a great way to end the month of September!

Today,I am joining Show & Tell Friday so I am sharing a little mix of green and white toile.

This is a small bedroom upstairs that over the years went from a toddlers room to a teenagers but is now a guest room.

A pretty little jug- a gift from a friend.

I love this mug.

Well that is it for today but I have been working on a project and I will show you what I have been up to next week.

Thank you Cindy for hosting Show and Tell Friday at My Romantic Home each week.
I am also joining Debra at Common Ground for Vintage Inspiration Friday. This is a new party for me but it looks very inspirational!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Rock Paper Scissors

The title of this post is:

Rock ~ Paper ~ Scissors

You will see why in a minute.

Here are two pictures of my front landscaping.  We have been working on it this summer.  You saw me dig up sod and spread over 70 bags of mulch this summer.

It is looking really good!  It will fill in more next year.

Have you noticed that I have not shown many pictures of my backyard or back porch?  Well, it is not the prettiest of places.

Sure the Potager looks good....but not much else.  Here are some pictures of  the way the back yard and back porch look right now.

See the stack of furniture on the left of the back porch?  That is my outdoor dining table and chairs.  It is too big for the porch.

So here is where the ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS comes in.

ROCK
This is the rock we have picked out to become a outdoor dining patio.  It is going to go in our back yard between the two pine trees you see below.
In the picture above, you can see a group of chairs...somewhere near there will be a fire pit and gravel seating area.  This is where the PAPER comes in.

PAPER
This is a rough drawing (courtesy of Mr. Comforts of Home) of how the backyard will look.

And now for the SCISSORS part of this post.

SCISSORS
I am going to have to use scissors to trim the herbs and marigolds, so that when they lay gravel between the beds, the plants don't get hurt.

This is all taking place next Monday or Tuesday.  And we have been assured that the work will be done before my BLOGGER BRUNCH that is taking place on October 16th.

By the way...we now have 15 bloggers coming to the brunch....anyone else out there want to come?  Email me!
Welcome Home,
Penny

Black and White Toile Tablescape

Hello everyone!

I am glad you came to visit as I have a lunch all ready for you .Since it is a warm sunny afternoon I have set a table for you in our little garden cottage. The doors are open so we can enjoy the garden from here.

I hope you like toile!

A little bouquet of phlox and roses looks romantic on the table.

I know many of you have seen this teapot from Winner's before but isn't it pretty? There is no marking on the bottom but I am pretty sure the box said made in England.

The chargers came from the Christmas Tree shop.

I hope I am not boring you with all these photos but you probably know by now I love to take pictures.

I closed the doors as a breeze picked up. These chairs were a thrift find that I painted and covered the seats with toile. I made the tablecloth with toile fabric from Walmart.

Well, you wait here while I go get your lunch-I will just be a minute, it is already for you I promise!

Today I am joining Susan again for the ever popular Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch.

Thank you for visiting

&

Enjoy your day!

Carolyn

a bit going on around here...

Last week found me suddenly and wonderfully in New York City (more on that to come) and I am in a bit of a computer transition, hence the posting has been a wee bit light (or not at all... sorry, Monday). Hopefully, I will get it all together by this afternoon or tomorrow and be back to sharing all the fun and interesting things going on around here (did I mention New York?). One thing I wanted to quickly share was this fantastic picture one of our Willowettes brought into the store last week. It is a photo from the latest Elle magazine of Lauren Bush, the creator of the FEED bag. Oh, and check out what she's holding...

How fantastic is she? Doing good and looking good. She is up there on the list of inspiring women, I must say.
And, speaking of inspiring women, we will be back next Wednesday continuing our little feature on "Women Who Inspire." Hope you are enjoying it.

The Garden in Autumn

Hello! I am glad you stopped by so I can take you on a little tour of the garden to see what is going on. Warmer weather has returned - 23 degrees Celsius and humid today.

The garden is really taking on the colors of Autumn.

We have several euonymus alatus or burning bushes in the garden and I love the color they turn in early Autumn.

The virginia creeper over the arbor is starting to turn a wine color as well.

Still some roses blooming- this one is new this year, Julia Child.

This is a bellflower-no sure which one. It is a spreader-but pretty. It blooms earlier but is putting out a few new blooms for us to enjoy.

The elder add some nice yellow color to the garden and the birds love the berries.

The sweet autumn clematis is blooming now.

I love how this daylily always graces us with some fall blooms even though it bloomed heavily a few weeks ago.

The roses give me so much pleasure.

The wine red rose is Dark Lady and I love the form, color and perfume. It is a David Austen rose.

Happy Returns daylily gives some repeat bloom late in the season also.

Our water fountain in the centre of the picket fence garden.

As you can see from our little tour the colors of the garden have changed but still give me a lot of pleasure as I stroll through the garden each day or tend to it.

A Fall collage- the pictures are mine but not the sheep , although I think sheep grazing in our field would be a nice added touch!

Thank you for coming on a stroll through the Autumn garden with me.

Thank you also to all who follow my blog both old and new and to all who have left such kind words.

Have a good day!

Carolyn
